Per Jerry McGuire… Our business had a very good day! This week I was able to take the earnings from EBay that Emma and I are involved in and was able to purchase our first batch of medical supplies for my Haiti trip coming up in May. Rite Aid had a BOGO sale on children’s Saline and Big Lots had a sale (thanks Courtney!) on Hydrocortizone Cream. So here is the loot I picked up. Emma and I purchased it together. I think it’s one of the more fulfilling purchases I’ve made in a while! I currently have 5 items on eBay that are in auction mode right now so we’ll see what happens with those items this weekend.

The Team of People I work with
February 28, 2008 · 2 Comments
We have a golf fundraiser coming up so we needed an updated team picture. Here are the people that I work with everyday. I am very excited about this picture because for the longest time I was the only girl on staff. This past 6 months we’ve added 2 more wonderful ladies.. Wendy and Dawn. It makes a whole new dynamic at work for me! I feel very fortunate to get to do something that I love. I love my job and I love the people I work with. I am the Event Coordinator for Wayfarer. Each year I handle all of the details of three guys who travel during the year. I take care of all the contracts, booking of flights, communication with the event that is booking them etc. Does not seem like a big deal but when you have 65+ of these a year, it becomes quite the task. It amazes me the outlets and doors that open up for our three guys (Chris, Chad, and Dave) to take the message and heart of Wayfarer on the road to other places. And that is just in the speaking world. So if you ever wonder what I am doing from 9-2 everyday, now you know. I’m talking to some event somewhere… booking a flight for someone or getting a travel folder ready for one of the guys. It’s a dream come true!
If you ever want to see where the guys are heading check out their speaking schedules here.

My Nana
February 20, 2008 · 1 Comment
I just found out tonight that my 83 year old grandmother (Nana) has breast cancer. She had a lump removed last year that was benign but she found another one and this time it was malignant. It’s hard to express what I am feeling right now. She is going for tests tomorrow and they are scheduling her for surgery next week to remove her breast. Pretty extreme but with her age that is the best recommended treatment.
It’s crazy. To go through 83 years of life and now you have to deal with breast cancer and the removal of a breast. This is the first bout of cancer in our family.
So if you think of it pray for her. Things like this are never easy to face no matter what age you are. Pray for the doctors involved in her treatment and for us her family as we seek out the best way to love on her during this time. And just as I believe for anyone I believe for her that God will use this is very hard and broken situation and will bring about beauty.

GREAT JOB!
In the Lovevolution series, we put a huge challenge before the Engage community. We decided to try to raise $3,000 to help 3 churches in Peru rent temporary facilities for their Compassion International projects. These churches are rebuilding from a 7.9 Richter Scale earthquake last summer.
Once again, you stepped up HUGE! We raised a total of $4,258.08 through Monday night, and more money has come in via PayPal this week. So not only are we going to provide facilities for 650 children to learn about God, go to school, and eat healthy meals for six months — we’re also going to be able to go above and beyond to minister in other needy areas of Peru.
And that’s not all. Engage attenders have sponsored 18 children through Compassion over the last three weeks. This completely changes the future of 18 kids. They now have hope. They now have the chance to get an education. They now know that someone cares for them and wants to see them succeed.
The Engage team is so proud of how you have responded to this giving challenge in Peru. Once again, our community of 300 people in Greenville has proved that we care about our world, and once again we have taken the Lovevolution full circle by bringing God’s love to others. We want to make sure you know how thankful we are to be a part of a message and a movement that shows God’s love in such powerful ways.

$$ Raised for “Compassion” in Peru
February 19, 2008 · Leave a Comment
Last night at Engage we all had a chance to give money for the work of Compassion in Peru. Our goal was to raise 3000.00 and today will be the last day that donations will come in. I have an “idea” as to the final number but will announce it tomorrow.
If you want to get in on the giving and you have not done so yet, you can do that here.
Here is why we are giving: Engage wants to make a difference! This time, partnering with Compassion International in Peru. On August 15, 2007, an earthquake registering 7.9 on the Richter scale struck the Peru coast. This earthquake devastated multiple Peruvian cities. Compassion International, which seeks to release children from poverty in Jesus’ name, was already ministering in Peru, and nine of their church partners were directly affected by the quake.
This is where Engage can help! We can provide rental support for three church partners for six months, which will allow the Compassion program to continue their regular, and needed, operations during the rehabilitation period. In addition to this “corporate” project for Engage, there are also opportunities for you to sponsor an individual child through Compassion International.

Item 2 sold on Ebay
February 18, 2008 · 1 Comment
I’m taking the whole EBay thing very slow due to lack of time and my need to actually find good deals to sell but I am happy to announce that I told my second item on eBay for a profit. Emma and I talked last night about what to do with the money. She knows that I am going to Haiti in May so as her part in helping mommy go we are going to keep shopping and selling things together and the money we make we are going to go together and buy as much of the following supplies that are needed where I will be going.
–tubes of Hydrocortisone ointment, 1% or 2.5%
–tubes of anti-fungal creams/ointments (for example,
Clotrimazole/Lotrimin, Miconazole, etc)
–Silvadene burn cream (the generic name is silver sulfadiazine)
–Infant gas relief drops (Mylicon or the generic version, Simethicone)
–Saline nasal spray for infants/children
–Adaptec burn dressings
So if you look at this list and run across a good deal on these items at a drug store or other store let me know so I can go out and bulk shop.
So that is what we are doing with all of our profit from now until I leave in May and then after that we will keep finding random places to give to where we see a need.
It amazes me that this last item sold. When I listed it there were a lot of items like it for sale and a lot of them cheaper than what my starting asking price but in the end it sold. Everytime I see a “you’ve been paid” email I get so excited. That’s just more money to give away!
Happy Monday everyone!

Hit me with a 1, 2
February 17, 2008 · 1 Comment
As Dave and I were talking…. we agreed that we hardley ever dealt with sickness until our kids came into the picture. Now it seems that we don’t get through the week without something happening. 1 – Izzie came down with the stomach bug on Friday night. (Dave out of town of course!) and last night 2 -Emma said her tummy was hurting and then she got it last night. There is nothing worse for a mom than to have to watch your children go through sickness. I always feel so helpless. The good news was that it was very short lived and today everyone is trying to rest so we are ready for a good week ahead of us. I’m still feeling like I just got out of the boxing ring and am a little dazed about where I am. Hopefully no more matches are scheduled here anytime soon!
